Short film analysis 2

The Ellington kid

This story is set in South London at a kebab shop, where two friends Nathan and Beefy discuss a gruesome stabbing story. Nathan tells Beefy a story he's heard about the Ellington kid who got stabbed but managed to find his way to the kebab shop for safety from the gang. The stabbers followed the kid into the shop to finish what they had started but were shocked to discover that the three shop owners are from a rough part of North Africa and therefore don't see the gang as a threat. They pick up large knives and lock the door to the shop and give the gang members an intimidating look before stabbing them, meanwhile the Ellington kid is lying helplessly on the floor as blood is leaking out of his body. Throughout the story telling, flashbacks are shown visualizing the scene, which makes it realistic to the viewers and helps us have a detailed vision of the story. Beefy then asks what happens however Nathan is surprised he hasn't even guessed the ending yet, to which Nathan replies jokingly, ''why do you think I'm just eating the fries''. This is him implying that the shop owners used the bodies of the gang members for their meat. He then says he's joking as Beefy spits out his burger in terror, but the camera then widens out and moves onto one of the shop owners as he is sharpening his knife behind the counter. He is seen with an off-putting grin on his face as he subtly listens to Nathan and Beefy's conversation. The film ends there and leaves the viewers wondering if the story is true and not just an urban myth. I really enjoyed this short film as it had a very interesting story-line and was edited very well to seem realistic and detailed to the viewers.
